Web OS and its Future

I was trilled to hear HP was making WebOS an open source platform for future devices. Although a lot of people sang praises to HP, I know quite well making something open does not guarantee its survival. The might Android and IOS will still crush any rival think it has hope to compete the two giants.

But like my friends commented after here the news, better to give it away than have stored in limbo. The quest for Web OS survival will now rest in the fans and volunteers willing to fool around with OS projects. But a surge in activity to develop WebOS is going to be futile unless you have future devices to install the OS.

Here comes the waiting game between hardware manufacturer and software developer. Unless someone comes up with an open tablet device I believe WebOS is going end with the HP Touchpad. I certainly hope I'm wrong on this since I love Palm from start and have a collection of Palm devices still working after all the years in storage.
